Michael has been a Lighting Designer for the past 25 years. He specialises in designing for dance. He has had numerous commissions throughout Britain, Europe, Australia and South Africa, and his work has spanned designs for touring companies, site-specifics and installations.

Michael has had long running collaborative relationships with Rambert Dance Company, Phoenix Dance Company, Javier De Frutos , Balbir Singh, Yael Flexer, Carol Brown ,Riccardo Buscarini (Place prize winner 2014) , Marina Collard, Zoi Dimitriou, Smallbones Dance Company (Paul Douglas) and Athina Vahla.

He has also worked with Mavin Khoo, The Royal Ballet, The Birmingham Royal Ballet., Ashley Page, ,Protein Dance Company, Shobana Jeyasingh, Hofesh Shechter, Rafael Bonachela, Charles Linehan, and many many more.

He designed the re-opening event at the Royal Festival Hall which took over the whole building with performances in all the newly refurbished spaces . As part of the Cultural Olympiad in 2012 he lit the Synchronized Swimming Event at the Sheffield Olympic pool.

He has also created designs for Bob Cohan’s 90th birthday festival of dance.

Michael conducts courses in lighting design at BA and MA level, in London, he has also taught in Denmark and South Africa. He has run lighting master classes for the British Council in 10 countries.

Michael has a Masters degree in Architectural lighting (university College London). A Bachelors degree in Engineering (Leicester university).
